Acer Aspire 5536-5883

Throughout my history of owning laptops (about 3 years now) I have had an interesting experience with Acer.

I started off with a model I can't remember, and remembered hating the fact that Acer's website was awful 3 years ago, drivers were no where to be found or the wrong ones, and it was extremely disorganized.

However, I decided to give Acer a second chance by purchasing an Aspire 5536-5883 a few months ago off of Newegg. I paid $450 with free shipping, which I thought was an excellent deal, considering the specs:

Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor @ 2.1GHz, a 15.6" Widescreen display, 3GB DDR2 800Mhz Ram, a 320GB Hard drive, dvd/cd player/burner, etc.

It also came stock with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1, which I replaced with their free copy of the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade that they offered before it came out!

I am absolutely happy with my purchase. I particularly enjoy the full-sized keyboard. However, the keypad is absolutely terrible; your fingers will constantly bump into them, knocking your arrow out of place 24/7.

Buy an external mouse. The speakers are excellent; Highs and Lows sounded pretty good for a laptop (no bass, of course.)

Speed wise, after installing Windows 7 and trimming some of the fat off of the stock operating system, this baby was cruising through programs! I was able to run Photoshop CS4 quite well and non-sluggishly thanks to the amount of RAM.

Overall, I would most certainly recommend this laptop to a friend and I will probably entertain more Acer products to be used by myself in the future.
