I’m using a blue Acer Aspire 4930. I got it around two years ago, just before entering the university. I’m still happy with it even though it has quite a few problems.
The thing I like most about it is the memory capacity, since I’ve added an internal hard disk that made the total memory available to be 180 GB. In addition, another thing I really like about it is the CPU speed of 2 GHz. It may not sound like a strong advantage since nowadays we do have many faster CPUs for personal computer; however, for a university student like me, this is more than enough.
The design of this laptop is also nice; I remember receiving compliments from my friends when they first saw my laptop. And the last good point that is worth mentioning is the sound quality. Because it has Dolby Home Theater Virtual Surround Sound system (or so it says) as the built-in speaker, which I find it works well with my playlists.
On the other hand, this laptop is quite heavy; I found it to be too heavy to carry out every day. The weight is approximately 3 kilograms, even though the specifications said it is lighter than that. What is more is that its graphic card is not that good comparing to other laptops. The graphics would get stuck at times when opening games that require good graphic cards. Not just that, flash games on face book are slowing down by this issue too.
If I were to rate my keyboard and speakers, they would get 10/10, because I like the keyboard’s softness and the speaker’s sound quality. For the touchpad, it will be 9/10, because the touchpad is quite small. And for the speed and performance, they would be 8/10, because without the Acer Empowering Software, it is hard to control the graphics quality and power usage.
Acer gives good services and supports; I definitely would recommend it to friends and will buy from Acer again in the future.
